Otaku PH ("we", "us") operates the website otaku.ph. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173).
1. Data we collect
- Contact form submissions: name, email, message content. Used only to reply to your inquiry.
- Event submissions: organiser name, email, event details. Used to verify and publish your event.
- Newsletter subscriptions: email address. Used to send our weekly roundup.
- Server logs: IP address, browser user-agent, referrer. Used for abuse prevention and aggregated analytics.
2. How we use your data
We use your data strictly for the purpose for which you provided it — replying to messages, publishing submitted events, sending the newsletter you opted into, or keeping the site running and secure. We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with advertisers.
3. Cookies
We use a single first-party cookie to remember your theme preference (dark/light). We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
4. Third-party processors
- Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and DDoS protection. Server logs are processed on Cloudflare infrastructure.
- Sanity.io — content management system for blog posts and anime entries.
- MailerLite — newsletter delivery. Your email is added to MailerLite only if you subscribe.
5. Your rights (RA 10173)
Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold on you
- Correct — fix inaccurate or outdated data
- Erase — request deletion of your data
- Object — stop us from processing your data in certain ways
- File a complaint with the National Privacy Commission

6. Data retention
Contact and event submissions are retained for up to 2 years for audit and moderation purposes, then deleted. Newsletter data is retained until you unsubscribe. Server logs are retained for 90 days.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
